Askalz pulled out a draw against the Tajiks on AFC

The Askalz once again proved that the team would not easily bag down to one of the strongest teams in the AFC. Last May 15, 2008, the RP team(Askalz) pulled out a draw against Tajikistan even if the team only had 10 players after the RP team's defender Jason Cordova was rewarded a red card and was sent out in the 21st minute. Even if crippled, the team did not lose hope but instead they had more courage to face the other team. Truly full of heart!

AFC Champions League

AFC Champions League logo

The AFC Champions League in Asian clubs is just like the UEFA Champions League in European clubs. This league, hosted by the AFC(Asian Football Confederation) and in normal circumstances, it is played by 28 Asian clubs along with the league defending Champions.

The league started in 1967 as the Asian Champion Club Tournament. And as a start, it had been played by eight(8) domestic champions from eight Asian leagues who competed in the inaugural season. With the exception of 1968 season, the tournament was held annually until 1971. During this first four editions, two Israeli clubs from Tel Aviv took three championships. But in 1972, due to lack of interests, the tournament was canceled which eventually resulted in withdrawals of most participants except for two clubs. The tournament was not held for next fourteen years. This also due to the fact that professionalism in Asian club football did not start till late 90s and early 2000s. The price money for this league is $600,000 for the winner and $400,000 for the runner up. 2007's champion was the Urawa Red Diamonds of Japan who won 3-1 against Sepahan of Iran.

Philippine Football Team

Azkals Logo

Being a Filipino soccer player, I am proud that my country has it's own Football team who is currently competing in some tournaments inside and outside the country. The Philippine Football team named the "Azkals", derived from the tagalog word asong kalye as which means street dog started as one of the oldest teams in Asia but even if they are one of the oldest, they never had significant success in the international stage. And for the past years, they were one of the weakest teams in Asia. But even if their record is not that good, players still did not quit on the sport but instead, they are still improving their skills with the help of foreign players such as the Younghusband brother's who are reserves for Chelsea FC. For 2008, the teams is headed again for another upcoming matches for the 2008 AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers. I'm hoping for the best results for the team... God bless "Azkals"!!

FINALS::: Manchester United FC vs. Chelsea FC

For the very first time in the history of UEFA Champions League which will be held in Luzhniki Stadium - Moscow on May 21, 2008. Two English Premiere League teams will meet in the finals. These teams are Manchester United FC and Chelsea FC, these two teams are the one of the dominating teams not only in the English Premiere League but also in European Football. Manchester United FC had already had two Champions League Finals matches way back 1967 and 1998 wherein they were crowned as champions but, it's a different story for Chelsea FC, this years Champions League is their 1st exposure to the league's finals. This could become one of the most unforgettable matches ever in the Champions League knowing that the two teams both have very skillful players such as Christiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, and Paul Scholes for Manchester United and Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard, and Michael Ballack for Chelsea. They also have two of the world's best goalkeepers which are Peter Cech(Chelsea) and Edwin Van der Sar(Manchester United). This could truly become a very entertaining showdown. .

The UEFA Champions League Trophy

Some facts were taken from

Chelsea FC to the EUFA Champion's League finals for the first time!!

For the First time, Chelsea FC will have the chance to win the EUFA Champion's League trophie... But before that, they will first meet Manchester United FC in the finals after Manchester FC defeated FC Barcelona in the semi finals.

The match between Chelsea FC and Liverpool FC in the quest for the finals was quite close but Chelsea FC emerged as the winner with a score of 3-2 and 4-3 on aggregate and went straight to the finals. Chelsea FC's win was made possible by the goals of Drogba(2 goals) and Lampard(1 goal in penalty) though Liverpool's Torres and Babel scored 2 goals. On the 1st leg match, Chelsea FC was almost defeated by Liverpool FC with a 1-0 score but John Arne Riise of Liverpool committed an own goal which tied the score to 1-1 and ended with a draw.

Lampard's goal which I got from YouTube...

Manchester United FC to the FINALS!!!

At last!!! My favorite team, Manchester United FC once again have found themselves into the finals of the Champions League against another English Premiere League team, Chelsea FC...

Two of the dominating teams in the English Premiere League will meet in the finals of the UEFA Champions League for the first time aiming to crowned Champions... But before this final match up, Manchester United needed to score at least 1 goal in the 2nd leg match to get themselves to the finals after they have a draw against FC Barcelona in their 1st leg match in Barcelona. Apparently, Manchester United's Paul Scholes answered the call to score up against Barcelona. he scored the only goal in the match with a very beautiful long shot that waved into Victor Valdes' upper left corner, Valdes tried to reach it but the ball was way too high for him.

I've embeded a video of Scholes' goal which I got from YouTube.
